Too big for your printer?
Split it in Blender.

Set your printer's size once. Move the box or drag a cut plane, click, and Oryx CAD cuts the part and adds the clips that hold the pieces together. No glue, no screws.

How it works

In Blender, step by step.

  1. Set your printer once

Width, depth and height of your build plate, for example 220 × 220 × 250 mm.

  2. Cut where you want

Shift+Q › Cut. The printer box follows the mouse, or drag a cut plane across the part. Click to cut, as many times as needed.

  3. Choose how it holds

Removable hook clips to take it apart again, or hooks and alignment pins for a part that stays assembled. Scroll to change how many.

  4. Lay flat and export

One click puts every piece flat on the bed, cut face down, clips beside. Export and slice.

What you get

The tools.

  • Printer boxCuts exactly to your build volume, wherever the box sits.
  • Cut planeA clean cut exactly where you want it, on any axis.
  • Join two partsAlready split by hand? Oryx CAD adds the clips between two parts that touch.
  • Removable or permanentHook clips, or hooks plus alignment pins.
  • Lay flat to printEvery piece on the bed, ready for the slicer.

Why split in Blender rather than in the slicer?

Most slicers can cut a model. They stop at the cut. In Blender you keep working on the pieces: carve, add texture, check, then export all of them at the right scale.

The clips are real geometry inside the model, sized for printing, so what you see is what prints. And you choose where the seams go, along a moulding or a line that hides them.

Questions

Good to know.

Will the pieces really hold together?

Yes. Removable joints use hook clips that snap in and can be taken apart. Permanent joints add alignment pins to the hooks for a part that stays assembled. No glue or screws needed.

Can I cut a model more than once?

Yes. Cut as many times as needed, along any axis, until every piece fits your printer.

Does it work on textured or detailed models?

Yes. The capture on this page cuts a castle tower that already carries a stone texture.

Which printers does it work with?

Any FDM or resin printer. You enter your build volume once and Oryx CAD cuts to it.

Which Blender versions are supported?

Blender 4.2 LTS to 5.2 LTS. Blender is free and open source. Texture tools need Blender 5.0 or later.
