Screws, nuts and Oryx Fit

Select a hole.
Get the part that fits.

Oryx Fit reads the hole and creates the screw, shaft or partner gear that goes in it, with the clearance your printer needs. ISO threads, nuts, springs and clips are one click away.

Available today in Oryx CAD 1.3: ISO screws and nuts, springs, snap clips. New in 1.4, shown in this capture: Oryx Fit and parts placed on faces with Shift+A. Included free.

How it works

In Blender, step by step.

  1. Point at a hole

Shift+Q › Oryx Fit, then hover the hole, the bore or the tooth.

  2. Click

The matching part appears in place: screw, shaft or partner gear.

  3. Adjust the fit

Add clearance for parts that turn, or keep it tight for a press fit.

  4. Print

Each part is a separate solid, ready to export.

What you get

The tools.

  • Oryx FitHole in, matching screw or shaft out. Optional clearance for parts that turn.
  • Screws and nutsISO threads, a real printed nut or a pocket for a store-bought one.
  • SpringsCompression springs and flat zigzag springs.
  • Snap clipsClips that click two printed parts together.
  • Shift+A ▸ Oryx CADEvery part in Blender's own Add menu, snapping onto faces.

Why let Oryx Fit size the part?

Measuring a hole and modelling a matching thread or shaft by hand is slow, and a tenth of a millimetre is the difference between a part that slides and one that jams.

Oryx Fit reads the geometry that is already there and builds the partner from it, with a clearance you can set for your printer.

Questions

Good to know.

Are the threads real ISO threads?

Yes. Screws and nuts use ISO metric threads, modelled as real geometry that prints.

Can I use a store-bought nut?

Yes. Choose a pocket shaped for a standard nut instead of a printed one.

What does clearance do?

It leaves a small gap between the two parts so they turn or slide after printing. Without it, the parts are made for a tight fit.

Which Blender versions are supported?

Blender 4.2 LTS to 5.2 LTS. Blender is free and open source. Texture tools need Blender 5.0 or later.
