A finish you can feel,
in 4 to 5 clicks.
Choose where, choose the pattern, set the depth. Oryx CAD turns it into real geometry and shows the depth in print layers, so the relief really comes out of the printer.
Available today in Oryx CAD 1.3 (beta, Blender 5.0+): 11 patterns or your own image, on the whole part, chosen faces or between two edges. New in 1.4: Optimize mesh and the Oryx wheel. Included free.

The tools.
- Textures11 patterns or your own image, on the whole part, painted with a brush, or between two edges.
- Depth in layersSee how many layers the relief will take on your printer.
- Optimize meshRemoves useless faces without changing the shape. Lighter files, faster slicing.
- Clean mergeFuses several parts into one solid.
Why texture in Blender rather than in the slicer?
Slicer options such as fuzzy skin give a random rough finish to the outer walls. In Blender you choose a real pattern, see the relief on the model, decide exactly where it goes and keep it when you cut or export.
Oryx CAD sizes the depth for printing, so the pattern is deep enough to show and shallow enough to keep the part solid.
Good to know.
Which Blender version do I need?
Texture tools need Blender 5.0 or later. The rest of Oryx CAD runs on Blender 4.2 LTS to 5.2 LTS.
Can I use my own pattern?
Yes. Load your own image and use it like any of the 11 built-in patterns.
Can I texture only part of a model?
Yes. Paint the zone with a brush, or pick the band between two edges.
Is the texture tool final?
It is in beta in version 1.4 and needs Blender 5.0 or later.
Which Blender versions are supported?
Blender 4.2 LTS to 5.2 LTS. Blender is free and open source. Texture tools need Blender 5.0 or later.
